What I’ve Learned from a Year of Policy—and Where I’m Headed Next
Today marks the end of a Year of Policy: Today is one year since I started writing these posts and, thus, it is one “year of policy” but it will also be the final post of this Substack Year of Policy (at least in this iteration).
As I mentioned in my 45th-week post, I have learned much by writing these. I have learnt what I care about and what are on a backburner for me. I have become more interested in discussing politics and involved in critically engaging with the policymaking aspects of politics.
At this point, I would like to take some time to focus on practice and activity for a few months, which will help me return with practical wisdom. I have recently taken up a position with a policy and research institute and I aim to conduct discussions and launch a policy newsletter with the insights from those discussions. In addition, I hope to organise a conference to open such insights to interested parties. I hope that my attention to the institution will result in better content and policy for all at some point.
I hope you gained some value from my past posts. Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss any, as I will be keeping this platform open for engagement. You can also reach me at madara.ranmuthugala@outlook.com.
Thank you for your presence here and I hope you too will enter either the politics or policymaking space, should you be so interested. We need more intelligent citizen engagement at all levels.
